Test a Pool Robot Market With Neutral Stock
A trial order of 100–300 neutral-stock pool robots ships in 7–14 days. Which model to test, what to track and when to move the winner to your brand.

Most buyers who come to us with a new pool robot line have one model they're fairly sure about and two or three they're guessing on. Putting your brand on all of them at once means minimums of 500–2,000 units per model and about 90 days before the first branded boxes are ready. A smaller first order of neutral stock lets you find out which guess was right before you commit.
Neutral stock is an existing model in neutral packaging, with no logo. Minimums start at 100–300 units depending on the model, and orders ship in 7–14 days. This is how we'd run the trial if we were in your seat.
Which model should we test first?
Start from the pools your customers own. If most of them have in-ground pools where algae builds up on the walls, a floor-only robot will leave them cleaning the walls by hand, so put a wall-climbing model like the Y50S in the trial. It cleans the floor, walls and waterline. If they mostly own smaller pools and want something simple, an entry-level floor-only model like the Y10, rated for pools up to 100 m², is the safer first bet.
Two models side by side teach you more than one. When customers can compare, you see which one they pick and why, and that's the answer you need before you put your name on a box.
How many units should a trial order be?
Enough to sell through in a few weeks of real pool season, and no more. For one sales channel, the neutral-stock minimum is usually the right size. If you split the trial across two models, keep each one close to its minimum instead of loading up on the favorite.
Add a small box of spares to the same order: a few filters and brushes and a couple of chargers. Spare parts and batteries can be ordered separately, and having them on your shelf means an early support question gets solved with a part in the post. Without them, the whole robot comes back.
What should we track while it sells?
Sales numbers alone won't tell you which model deserves your brand. Keep a simple log for every unit sold, with the customer's pool type and size, the questions they asked before buying and every support message afterwards. A few weeks of that log answers the questions a private-label order depends on. You'll see which model draws the fewest complaints, which questions belong in your manual, and which color people ask about.
Read the support messages closely. If owners keep saying the robot stops before the pool is clean, the runtime may be short for the pools in your market, and branding won't fix that. The Y10 runs 120 minutes per charge, while the C1 and C2 run 210 minutes, so a runtime complaint usually means testing a longer-running model.
What can't neutral stock tell you?
It can't show what your brand adds to the price you can charge, because the box is neutral. If you run the trial early or late in the season, it won't show you peak demand either. Treat the trial as proof that the model works in your customers' pools and that support stays quiet. The brand premium is still your call.
Neutral stock is still a real import, though. The model needs the certification marks your market requires, which are issued per model, and your forwarder will want the UN38.3 test report and MSDS for the battery before booking. Sorting these out on a trial order of 100–300 units is much less painful than discovering a gap on a branded order of 2,000.
When do we switch to our own brand?
Start the private-label approvals while the trial stock is still selling. A first private-label program takes about 90 days, and most of that time goes into approving packaging artwork, the color sample and the translated manual. None of that has to wait for the trial to finish. Once the log points clearly at one model, send us your artwork for it. By the time the neutral stock runs low, your branded order can be close to ready, and repeat orders after that take 30–45 days.
If the timing doesn't line up, a second neutral-stock order covers the gap. It's better than an empty shelf in the middle of the season.
